AAPA honors John J. McQueary, PA, an early leader of the PA profession. McQueary passed away on August 11.

A pioneer PA, McQueary was one of the first students enrolled in the Duke University PA Program in 1965. After being an active part of the establishment of AAPA, he later served as the Academy’s second president. He was inducted into the Duke University PA Program Hall of Fame in 2007.

“PA McQueary was a trailblazer who left a lasting mark on our profession as a leader, educator, and advocate,” said AAPA President Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA. “The PA profession is forever changed by his dedication and commitment, and he will be sorely missed.”
