Influential Leaders Shape a Culture of Dynamic Giving at AAPA 2025

PA Adventure: An Evening at the Museum will take place Sunday, May 18, 7-9pm at The Denver Art Museum (pictured above).

At AAPA 2025, the Physician Associate Foundation’s (PAF) Women in Philanthropy (WIP), PA Moms, and PAs for Women Empowerment (PAWE) will host PA Adventure: An Evening at the Museum. “[This event] is our annual opportunity to meet in person, network, and refine a culture of dynamic giving by women to advance the work of the Physician Associate Foundation,” said Debi Gerbert, chair of Women in Philanthropy.

An Evening at the Museum is dedicated to empowering a diverse group of women to collaborate and champion PAF’s mission: to empower physician associates (PAs) to improve health through philanthropy and service.

The private reception will feature a string quartet along with drinks and appetizers, with access to fascinating exhibits, including Gio Ponti, Designer of a Thousand Talents; By Design, Stories and Ideas Behind Objects; and the Northwest Coast and Alaska Native Art Galleries.

“As a community dedicated to empowering PA Moms in their professional and personal lives, we recognize the importance of advancing the profession through philanthropy, education, and advocacy,” said PA Moms founder Raquelle Akavan. “We look forward to celebrating the strength and contributions of PAs.”

PA Adventure: An Evening at the Museum is open to all conference attendees and their guests, and will be held on Sunday, May 18, from 7–9 p.m. at the Denver Art Museum.

With an expected attendance of over 150 PAs, the event is a prime opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and connect attendees with influential leaders who shape a culture of dynamic giving by women to benefit PAF.

“At PAWE, we are passionate about uplifting and amplifying the voices of women in our profession, ensuring that our contributions are not just recognized but boldly celebrated,” said PAWE Vice President Venee Cunningham. “We look forward to an evening of inspiration, connection, and strengthening our shared mission to empower, uplift, and transform the future of PAs!”

All proceeds raised will support PAF’s mission-driven programs that equip PAs and PA students with resources to transform health and change lives in their communities.

Women in Philanthropy

The mission of PAF’s Women in Philanthropy is to engage and empower a diverse group of women with opportunities to collaborate and support PAF. WIP aims to inspire and mentor a community of women to engage locally and globally in philanthropy and recognize and empower PA women to make a difference in healthcare and their communities.

PA Moms

PA Moms was established to provide PAs or future PAs with support, friendship, and camaraderie to decrease career burnout and work-related stressors in working mothers. PA Moms unifies and empowers PA women to advocate for their patients and the PA profession, express their full potential, and positively impact the broader healthcare community by giving back and collaborating with other organizations.

PAs for Women Empowerment

PAs for Women Empowerment promotes the rise of women in healthcare and leadership. PAWE is devoted to bridging the gap between gender and leadership and eliminating barriers in the PA and medical profession to end gender inequality. The group is also committed to helping create women clinicians who know and understand their power in the healthcare system through mentorship and education.
