Newest Research on the PA Profession
PA researchers are invited to be featured in upcoming issues of the newsletter. Recently submitted interesting data? Won a small research grant? Share your insights on the publication process, filling knowledge gaps, and why research is paramount to the PA profession.
Here are a few articles we think you should see:
- “Demographics and Practice Attributes of Physician Assistants in Neurology” by Bruza-Augatis, et al., examines the characteristics of PAs in neurology compared to those in other specialties. PAs in neurology are predominantly female (81.4%), younger (median age 36), and more likely to work in urban areas (96%) and hospital settings (54.5%) compared to their counterparts in other fields.
- In Martin and Kayingo’s “Doctoral education for physician assistants/associates: trends and characteristics in the U.S.” the authors highlight the rapid growth of PA-specific doctoral programs in the U.S. over the past decade. Most of these programs are less than three years old, offered by private institutions, and focus on leadership, education, and clinical practice advancement.
